UFC student gets crowds help studying cranes

Marisa Zimmerman rode in a golf cart in circles throughout UCF for more than a year looking for Florida sandhill cranes. But the environmental-studies major wasn't spotting enough of the long-legged gray birds for her research project. Her professor suggested using crowdsourcing, and within weeks, 60 people sent Zimmerman nearly 300 images of sandhill cranes, providing about three-quarters of her data.
